Xerography:
Basics of Xerography:
On 22nd October 1938 in a trivial town in USA, Astoria, Chester Carlson created the worlds first photocopy. On the Historic day he wrote10-22-38 Astoria on a break up of paper. A charged plate was exposed to this image, dusted with the powder sign and the image then formed was transferred to a sheet of uprise paper- the First Photocopy. This process was patented as ElectroPhotography.

Charging An electrostatic charge of ?600 volts is uniformly distributed over the surface of the tucker by a corona discharge from a corona unit (Corotron), with output limited by a mold grid or screen. The complete unit is correctly called a Screened Corotron or Scorotron for short. This effect can also be achieved with the put on of a contact roller with a charge employ to it. Essentially, a corona discharge is generated by a sign wire 1/4 to 1/2 progress (6,35 to 12,7 mm) apart from the photoconductor.
A negative charge is placed on the wire, which will ionize the space between the wire and conductor, so electrons will be repelled and pushed away onto the conductor. The conductor is set on top of a conducting surface, kept at ground potential.
The star sign is chosen to suit the cocksure or Negative process. Positive process is used for producing black on black-and-blue latitude copies. Negative process is used for producing black on white from negative originals (mainly microfilm) and all digital printing and copying. This is to economize on the use of laser light by the Black writing or Write to Black exposure method.
