Everyday Use

Everyday Use, written by Alice Walker, is a short horizontal surface that analyzes two very diverse characters. Maggie and her stick live reveal their heritage in their everyday lives sewing quilts and churning butter, eon Dee lives in an urban community and thinks of her heritage as an video display for the world to see. The two sisters, Dee and Maggie, were both raised by their develop in the same atmosphere, yet they have differing beliefs of style, family, and heritage.
In the story, Dee is set forth as materialistic, physically flawless, and embarrassed of her ancestry. Dee likes nice, fashionable things, and being the affection of attention. She carries herself with an arrogant attitude believing she is better than everyone else
At the while Dee went off to college, her mother offered her a family quilt to take along as a memory, but Dee rejected it because quilts were not trendy. Maggie, the young sister, is the total opposite of Dee. Maggie is reluctant, thin, and ashamed of the burns allover her from the rear fire. Although she has a beautiful soul, she is nowhere near as esthetically pleasing as Dee. Unlike her educated, gifted sister, Maggie is not that self-luminous and didnt receive a formal education.
