Fish And You

some notes and thoughts on the Morning of the Poem

-- Schuyler wouldnt be Schuyler without Whitman. I could almost imagine his poem being written at the turn of the century rather than in 1970. Some spectacular similarities: the open form, the litany, the free verse, the open sexuality, the importance of the life of the city, the shout out of the reader, and of course the references to leaves.

-- I love this poem. I wont dwell on this because it doesnt allow for much criticism, but I love this poem.
