This story takes correct during the American Revolution. When the British be about to attack Pennington, New jersey on April 3rd, 1778. This whole story happens within 24 hours of Jonathans experience.
Jonathan is very Brave when he goes to the town tavern, and finds out the British, and Hessians are about to attack and he decides to fight with his town. The Corporal is mucky when he walks out of the tavern with his shirt not inclose in, his boots covered in mud and his hat too smaller for him. Jonathans father is nervous when he tells Jonathan to not go beyond after Jonathan is about to leave to go visualise what happened at the tavern.

Jonathan, the main character in The Fighting Ground, experiences a situation near 13 year olds these days would never find themselves in at a young board like Jonathan. He finds himself in the middle of a bally(a) battle of the American Revolution. And he actually chooses to be on that point! His loving parents want him to stay safe at home, hardly Jonathan cannot ignore the local tavern bell calling men to arms. Why does he want so badly to be a soldier? Does being a soldier free rein out to be everything he thought it would be? willing he survive his daring plunge into the brutal fightfare?
